Ideas on Paper!

How have I only just discovered this little treasure now!

For the last term of 2nd year, our brief set:'To produce a book'. We were given the freedom to explore whatever our hearts desire, but at the end we had to produce a book. For me, I chose to explore fashion portraiture photographing my models in locations of Nottingham. And for my book I wanted to produce a magazine taking inspiration from independent magazines such as pylot, dazed, mushpit, cereal, kinfolk and many more.

With this subject matter in mind I was recommended by tutors and my course mates to visit ‘Ideas on Paper’, (a small book shop located in Nottingham's city centre). And I’m so glad I did!

Sooo many books and magazines, too much inspiration for me to handle! I bought a couple of books (which was hard to select as I wanted them all) for research with the help from Alex, the owner. I explained my project and what interested me.......he couldn’t have pointed out any magazines more relevant. I really appreciated talking to him, he showed a genuine interest in my project and I could tell how passionate he was towards the books in his store. I recently followed the instagram account and I enjoy the daily updates Alex posts of new arrivals.

For any creative or book lover, you must visit whether you’re a local of Nottingham or just visiting.
